Here's my plan for this week:
Step 1: Gather all my cleaning tools and products before I begin!
Step 2: I am opening windows and letting the fresh air in while I clean. I am hoping that this eliminates the need for air fresheners!
Step 3: Top Down Approach. Ceiling fans, lights, nooks and crannies, & those hard to reach places will be my first projects!
Step 4: From the windows to the walls. I'll remove the curtains and blinds and wash them. Next I'll tackle the windows. Starting by removing the window screens, laying them in the yard and spraying them with a water hose spray attachment. While the screens are drying, I'll clean windows and dust window sills then replace my screens.
Step 5: My rugs! I'll start a laundry load of machine washable rugs. Then gather my larger rugs and take them outside. If the rug is small enough, I'll shake it or beat it against the brick wall to remove dirt and grime. (I'll be washing down my brick in June!)
- Tip: Leave rugs outside until the very end when you clean the floors so they aren’t in the way.
- Tip: Sunlight and some baking soda, sprinkled and vacuumed up works wonders to freshen most odors.
Step 7: REST!!!!
What do you do first?
I'm working to eliminate as many chemicals as possible so I'll be using a lot of things like baking soda, vinegar and water! I do not plan on using any cleaners with chemical additives. What about you?
Now I must get to work....
